  Electronic Assembly Technician

Electronics Assembly Technician

The suitable candidate will have strong skills and relevant experience soldering thru-hole and surface mount components and assembling various electronics products.

Job Summary:

This position focuses on manufacturing, repairing, modifying or overhauling electronics and electro-mechanical components and assemblies. Soldering thru-hole and surface mount components skills and experience is mandatory. Having a basic understanding of AC and DC circuits is required.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform component level troubleshooting and repair of electronic assemblies.

  Facility Maintenance Technician

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks and with the performance of building construction, maintenance and remodeling tasks in one or more fields (e.g. carpentry; electrical; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); plumbing, etc.); learns to perform tasks in other fields; and performs other tasks as assigned.

Essential Functions: (not intended to be all-inclusive)

  • Gains job specific expertise through various sources (e.g. on-the-job training, trade publications, vendor publications and manuals, etc.) to become proficient in the identified primary field.
  • Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations using a pre-established check sheet.
  • Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
  • Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.).
  • Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
  • Assists in performing minor HVAC work (e.g. adjusting and calibrating thermostats, pneumatic controls and HVAC and electric energy management systems; installing pipes for high pressure air systems; repairing water, gas, electric and air pipes and lines in or under floors, walkways, and walls; etc.) to maintain a comfortable temperature for employees and proper equipment operation using various hand, power and specialty tools.
  • Assists in performing scheduled and “as needed” inspection and preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to maintain operability of the tools and equipment.
  • Confers with supervisor to discuss work processes and problems, the best techniques for various maintenance and repair needs, and instructions.
  • Reconfigures, installs, positions, and re-mounts modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
  • Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment (e.g. walls, refrigerators, evaporative coolers, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using various painting equipment and related tools (e.g. sprayers, rollers, brushes, thinners, etc.).
  • Receives direction, guidance and instruction from Supervisor in the correct operation of equipment and materials used to complete required maintenance activities.
  • Replaces or updates inoperable or old building materials and appliances (e.g. motors, belts, pumps, window glass, sinks, doors, smoke alarms, cabinets, shelves, tile, light fixtures, filter systems, patios etc.) to provide a safe, comfortable working environment for employees using various tools and materials (e.g. welding equipment, ladders, power saws, hammers, drills, etc.).

  • 3 – 5 years’ experience with Installation and Service of:

Job Purpose:

Responsible for operating press brake on machine. Fits and fabricates structural steel, completes layout, and inspects finished product; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

  • Operate press brake machine.
  • Run bend and forming operations using standard and custom punches.
  • Use a CNC controller to input information into machine.

  • Set-up and/or attend client/internal meetings regarding installations and service
  • Write detailed proposals based on surveys and requirements made by you to fulfill the client’s needs
  • Provide and maintain technical support for technicians, clients, and sales department
  • Coordinate and report on weekly staff meetings, project issues, and new policy/procedures
  • Formulate, research, plan, and target the control of costs and service-time spent on existing and new clients
  • Meet or exceed estimated profits based upon estimates provided by you
  • Prepares and administers an annual operating budget for the service department
  • Establish and implement quality improvement programs
  • Forecasts goals and objectives for the department and strives to meet them
  • Understands and follows work rules and procedures

Job Reguirements:

  • Support and interface with customers, resellers and suppliers
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage and resolve issues/problems and client requests quickly with details of what was reported, what was found upon inspection of the service call request, and what was done to repair the service request
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments/tasks

JOB Qualifications:

  • Low Voltage License/Certification for NYS and NJ, expired is acceptable
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate power tools and equipment in a safe, responsible and confident manner
  • Working knowledge of general construction and basic electronics
  • Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends or holidays (on an on-call basis)
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Email
  • High School diploma or equivalent

  Technical Writer

Parabit Systems is currently looking for a Technical Writer for an embedded building / door access system. This is a short term project.

The project is to write a User Manual for our network based door locking system that uses magnetic swipe cards for entry. This product contains a flexible system of schedules and card configurations as well as extensive audit trail record keeping. Product cut sheets can be provided for back ground reading.

The ideal person will have an overall technical knowledge in the area of software and how it controls hardware. An additional interactive manual in electronic format (with hyperlinks) may also be considered.

Technical areas the manual will cover:

  • Network IP settings and configuration
  • Door lock relays, setting devices for Normally Open versus Normally Closed on relay connections
  • Creation of users in active directory, setting schedules and card acceptance criteria
  • Exporting of logs to excel and other formats

A document title listing from past project will aid in our decision making process. Samples of writing style will be required.
